INFERNO: Galactic winds in dwarf galaxies with star-by-star simulations including runaway stars

چکیده

The formation and evolution of galaxies have proved sensitive to the inclusion stellar feedback, which is therefore crucial any successful galaxy model. We present INFERNO, a new model for hydrodynamic simulations galaxies, incorporates resolved objects with star-by-star calculations when where injection enriched material, momentum, energy takes place. INFERNO treats early kinematics include phenomena such as walkaway runaway stars. employ this innovative on dwarf demonstrate that our physically motivated feedback can drive vigorous galactic winds. This quantified by mass metal loading factors in range $10-100$, an factor close unity. Outflows are established disc, highly multi-phase, spanning almost $8$ orders magnitude temperature, clear dichotomy between ejected cold, slow-moving ($T\lesssim5\times10^4\,{\rm K}$, $v<100\,{\rm km\,s}^{-1}$) gas hot, fast-moving ($T>10^6\,{\rm $v>100\,{\rm gas. In contrast massive disc we find surprisingly weak impact kinematics, stars having little no effect results, despite exploding diffuse outside dense star-forming gas, well entirely. stems from combination strong porous interstellar medium, obscure unique signatures provide.

Star Formation in Dwarf Galaxies

We explore mechanisms for the regulation of star formation in dwarf galaxies. We concentrate primarily on a sample in the Virgo cluster, which has HI and blue total photometry, for which we collected Hα data at the Wise Observatory. We find that dwarf galaxies do not show the tight correlation of the surface brightness of Hα (a star formation indicator) with the HI surface density, or with the ...

Star Formation History of Dwarf Galaxies in Cosmological Hydrodynamic Simulations

We examine the past and current work on the star formation (SF) histories of dwarf galaxies in cosmological hydrodynamic simulations. The results obtained from different numerical methods are still somewhat mixed, but the differences are understandable if we consider the numerical and resolution effects. It remains a challenge to simulate the episodic nature of SF history in dwarf galaxies at l...

Numerical Simulations of High Redshift Star Formation in Dwarf Galaxies

We present first results from three-dimensional hydrodynamic simulations of the high redshift formation of dwarf galaxies. The simulations use an Eulerian adaptive mesh refinement technique to follow the non–equilibrium chemistry of hydrogen and helium with cosmological initial conditions drawn from a popular Λ-dominated cold dark matter model. We include the effects of reionization using a uni...

Massive star clusters in dwarf starburst galaxies

I will discuss the presence of massive star clusters in starburst galaxies with an emphasis on low mass galaxies outside the local group. I will show that such galaxies, with respect to their mass and luminosity, may be very rich in young luminous clusters.

On star formation rates in dwarf galaxies

We present evolutionary synthesis models of starbursts on top of old stellar populations to investigate in detailed time evolution the relation between Hα luminosity and star formation rate (SFR). The models show that several effects have an impact on the ratio between L(Hα) and SFR. Metallicity different from solar abundance, a time delay between star formation and maximum Hα-luminosity, and a...
